The middle of the beginning
The idea of my journey started about 6 months ago after I secured a space in a salon as the nail tech. I knew I was going to have good days and bad days as well so I thought why not write it all down. I love to write a lot, and sharing my experiences would bring a lot of understanding to those seeking in the nail world. I’ve been a bit slow on this for a while but I was eager to write about this today.
After the long work hours for the festive season, I decided to take a little break for myself; you know linger around with bae and spend some quality time together as we both have jobs. Bae on the other hand works a 9-5. It was early in the morning when I got a call for a home service and I thought why not? A little cash during my holiday won’t be so bad, so I took it. I went to my client in her home and it was lovely there! She was also very welcoming and nice, I thought to myself “not bad”.
Usually, I ask what a client would want before I get there as to know what products Would be needed so as usual I went through the what would you like to do ritual. But on getting there, she changed her mind she wanted something a lot more different and it’s a blessing I had supplies for what she wanted (I always carry extra supplies just Incase) so I started prepping the nail plate. I buffed, filed dehydrated and all that process...after I got done prepping, she touched over the nail plate and I thought to myself “well I just need to buff a little bit more” I started putting the tips on and that went okay until I started hard gel application! Nail techs would agree with me that this is a sensitive process and we would need a client to cooperate with us in other to get the best outcome, but no! My lady didn’t sit still either during application or the curing process! Then everything went downhill from there. If one thing goes wrong I would have to fix it because it’s my problem not hers. I was able to finish off the set when she said two fingers weren’t strong enough. I knew it was the movement and touching so I promised to re do them even though it cost me more products and travel fee.
Now, if only she had sat still or touched less I won’t be having a problem with anything. We both go home Happy. But clients want to touch, they want to move about, dip hands in their bags and make phone calls! When the motto of the day is RELAX HANDS AND FINGERS.
